May/June 2024

I’ve worked at County Wedding Magazines for almost eight years now, and I’ve always admired the gorgeous venues, weddings and talented suppliers in Kent, so I’m really excited to introduce myself as the new editor.

I don’t know about you, but the older I get, the quicker time seems to fly by. It seems like only yesterday that I was writing about my upcoming wedding, and here we are over a year later. If you’ve recently become engaged and the wedding feels like it’s forever away, trust me, it will be here before you know it. The best piece of advice I can offer is to enjoy the planning process and celebrate the small things. If you’ve said yes to the dress or booked that special venue that you’ve had your eye on, take the time to celebrate – go out on a date, treat yourselves, and make a scrapbook of those key moments. Once the wedding is over, you’ll love having those memories to look back on.

To help you plan your dream wedding, we’ve put together an issue full of inspiration, with everything from stunning dresses and jewellery trends to delectable cakes, breathtaking venues and romantic real weddings.

Happy planning!

Rowhill Grange

Nestled in the Kent countryside, Rowhill Grange is set in acres of romantic gardens with a winding drive that leads up to the hotel, providing sweeping views across the lawn. Easy to access with ample parking, the property offers a countryside feel, perfect for rustic weddings. The hotel is licensed for ceremonies for up to 120 friends and family.

A pretty wedding gazebo is located at the bottom of the gardens, which is the perfect spot for an idyllic outdoor ceremony.

Alternatively, The Clockhouse is available. This exclusive-use barn has a charming thatched roof, dreamy white-washed wooden cladding and mullioned windows. Inside is a barn-style suite, complete with a vaulted and beamed ceiling, all decorated in a subtle, neutral lime-washed palette. It is a beautiful, light and airy space, ready to be filled with love and laughter.

Adjacent to the main suite is a dedicated bar and an internal courtyard. Weddings at The Clockhouse also include seven bedrooms plus the duplex bridal suite and use of the dressing room, The Thatchers. Designed for the bridal party to prepare for the ceremony together in style, The Thatchers is a dreamy space with a make-up and blow-dry bar and plenty of room to enjoy a glass of bubbles, share some last words of wisdom and shed a few happy tears.

Guests will have the most marvellous of days, enjoying delicious 2-AA rosette cuisine from the canapés to the wedding breakfast, delivered with a white-glove standard of service.

During the summer months, receptions are held on the lawn, a short stroll from the wedding gazebo. A stretch tent is in place for shade while the wedding party has photographs taken in the gardens. The lawn is also a great location for garden games.

Wedding packages at Rowhill Grange include use of the duplex bridal suite and seven bedrooms in The Clockhouse. Couples will also have access to the dressing room plus one bedroom as an early check-in, a complimentary menu tasting and a one-year anniversary stay.

Biggest wedding faux pas to avoid on your big day

With more than half (53%) of married Brits confessing to having wedding day regrets, wedding expert and CEO of the UK's largest collection of wedding venues, The Gilchrist Collection, Samantha Gilchrist shares her thoughts on the biggest wedding faux pas' couple should steer clear of to guarantee wedding day success. "You've planned everything down to the tiniest detail and finally get to enjoy your day, why risk something spoiling it? While some of these things are a little outside your control, it's important to let your wedding planner and venue know what your boundaries are, and the things you would find unacceptable, were they to happen on your big day. They'll be able to support you in handling issues both ahead of time and on the day itself.''
